International Baccalaureate®
IB Middle Years Programme (IB MYP)
Union Day School is an official school for the Middle Years Programme (MYP). We are authorized as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high-quality,
challenging, international education that Union Day School believes is important for our students.
We currently offer an IB curriculum in grades 6-8 with 9th/10th grades being officially added in 2023. Our students are asked to conduct open inquiry and real-life research both locally and globally in a constructivist-oriented approach. Teachers implement criteria based assessment established by the International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years Programme and focus on the IB Learner Profile (a list of student qualities) as well as global contexts (a lens through which to view content). Our 8th graders also participate in the IB MYP Community Project, a culminating project for our 8th grade students and is a way to showcase their commitment to service and action.
